Surh Cellars 2022 Zinfandel

Once in a while comes a wine that seems simple at first but with time gains complexity and body that in the end, it just needs to be captured in a bottle. From old vines, which for zinfandel often means much older than other varietals, our job sometimes is to let the grape come through on its own. Rarely have we had a zinfandel that is a complete wine by itself as it often needs a back bone of something darker. Ripe plum, black cherry, tobacco, cinnamon all wrapped together beautifully finishes in a surprisingly full finish. It is pretty, not intense the way our zinfandels often are.
