Flanagan 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon
Tasting notes
The nose has compelling notes of savory herbs, pencil shavings, and crème de cassis. The palate has ripe red currant and black current complimented by a hint of vanilla. Eric says that the 2022 vintage reminds him most of 2017. Both vintages had heat events during the growing season that restrained the vines. As a consequence, these are more restrained wines with an emphasis on elegance and structure rather than opulence. Fans of top St Estephe producers like Calon Segur and Cos D’Estornel will be very happy with this wine. The Cabernet is from the Estate Vineyard, on a steep east facing hillside cascading down from the ridgeline behind the winery. The modest amount of Merlot is from a former neighbor in Bennett Valley.
